Day 2. National Park - geysers - Waterfalls and Black beaches
Your personal guide will pick you up in the morning and you will head out in your adventure in a comfortable vehicle. Your first stop will be Ůingvellir National Park, where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge forms an impressive rift valley causing Iceland to drift apart at the rate of 2 cm per year. Ůingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is where the Icelandic Parliament was established in 930. Ůingvellir is hauntingly beautiful despite its rugged lunar-like landscapes. Then you will head to the Geysir geothermal area, which is filled with geysers and hot springs. One of the geysers spouts boiling hot water 15 to 20 meters in the air every 8 minutes or so in a majestic display you won't want to miss. After exploring the geothermal area you will continue on to Gullfoss, which is also known as the Golden Waterfalls ľ it truly is one of the most impressive and magnificent waterfalls in Iceland. During sunny days the mist from the waterfall creates unique rainbows giving the waterfall a beautiful crown. Make sure you have your cameras ready. Next you will head down to the South Coast of Iceland. This is a very scenic drive, so you are lucky not to be driving ľ you can simply enjoy the beautiful landscape with mountains and glacier. Several stops will be on the way: Keri volcano crater and two breathtaking waterfalls ľ Skˇgafoss and Seljalandsfos. A rare opportunity to walk behind the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall is something you won't want to miss. Then you will head to area of VÝk for overnight stay.
