Day 2. The Golden Circle and Snorkeling in Silfra fissure

Pick up your car in the morning and head out for your Iceland road trip adventure. Your first stop will be Þingvellir National Park where you will join a snorkelling tour in Silfra fissure. Nestled in the heart of Þingvellir National Park, Silfra is an otherworldly sight located on top of the tectonic plate rift between Europe and North America. The crystal-clear water in the deep fissure gives you the impression of being weightless as you float down with the lazy current. Silfra is frequently rated as one of the world’s top ten dive sites, and visibility reaches up to 100 metres. The water temperature in Slifra is only couple degrees (Celsius), but don´t worry, you will be provided with a dry suit that will keep you dry and warm. After the snorkelling tour you can explore Þingvellir National park, which is also an UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Geysir geothermal area filled with geysers and hot springs. One of the geysers sprouts boiling hot water 15-20 meters in the air every 8 minutes or so in a majestic display so make sure you stick around for the show. Continue further to Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall but Gullfoss waterfall is one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls and a site not to be missed.
